F.E.A.R. 2 Blocked in Australia, New Trailer Arrives

The Australian Classification Review Board has refused to classify Monolith's spooky shooter sequel F.E.A.R. 2, a move that effectively blocks the uncensored game from sale within the continent.

It was not publicly stated why the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter was refused, but it is likely to continue in the tradition of other once-blocked games--Fallout 3, Silent Hill: Homecoming--with a censored version that resolves the board's complaints.

In related news, a new trailer was released, showcasing a rather cheery Monolith. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin arrives in North America come February 10.

At some point this needs to stop being considered "news", because really, it's just more of the same from them. It's no longer news in the sense it's interesting, because it's reached the point it's the norm now. It's kinda like reporting China censors internet access for their citizens. Oh yeah, we can soon start reporting that as "news" for Australia also, once the proposed nanny filters go into effect.

sounds like the aussie classification board needs their egos checked, the whole point in classifying something is to put an age rating on it. Theyre being total prima donnas by all of this recent game censorship, most of the games deserve an r18 at worst and if they don't have that rating then they need to instate one.
It's completely pathetic that people are letting them control what they can and can't do in this way, especially when it is so hypocritical that they can watch a movie or read a book with the same or worse content than these games.
If I was an aussie I'd be pissed about this.

In almost all countries, it is the government that operates by right and the people who live by permission. The idea at the time of the founding of the US was to reverse that creed. Use it or lose it.

This goes for media as well, including games.
