Good Old Games Gets Epic, Unreal

CD Projekt's DRM-free digital digital download site Good Old Games today began carrying titles from Epic's classic PC shooter franchise Unreal.

Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition mark the first additions, both priced at $9.99. Unreal II: The Awakening and Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor's Choice Edition are slated to hit "in the coming weeks."

"GOG.com provides an affordable way to buy our back catalogue of games and get up and running with minimal effort," noted Epic VP Jay Wilbur.

"We know that a lot of gamers have been waiting for new deals,"

added GOG managing director Adam Oldakowski. "We're sure that the Unreal games will satisfy their lust for alien blood and intense multiplayer action... DRM-free, of course."

Unreal II is underrated. It's got some pretty fun moments and the weapon + UI design is inspiring.

Now go hound Atari until you get to release Blood, and on an unrelated note, the Worms games as well.

System Shock 1 and 2 shouldn't even have to be mentioned, I hope they're underway.

Good to see the original Unreal on there. It's amazing how many people don't know there is an Unreal before Unreal Tournament.

Awesome. These are great games (Unreal 2 excepted). Hell, UT hasn't left my various hardrives since it came out in '99.

Would be more excited about this if Steam didn't already have it. I'd really love to see more of the stuff you can't find elsewhere like the old LucasArts games, Thief 1 and 2, etc. I know they're working on it but hope it comes soon!

CD Projekt has gained a new respect from me. THESE guys are the games for gamers type of producers/developers of old. They do it out of love for the medium... you can just tell from every press release. I'm sure that big bags of money are nice too, but you see what I'm meaning, I'm sure.
