Bionic Commando Screenshots Examine Polycraft

3
A few new screenshots of GRIN's swinging action-adventure game Bionic Commando (PC, PS3, 360) have arrived from publisher Capcom, highlighting the polycraft enemy.

Expect Bionic Commando to hit consoles in "very early 2009." Meanwhile, the PC version may follow a bit later "because of piracy, stuff like sorting out DRM" and polish.

I guess it could still go wrong somewhere... but based on what I've seen so far... this game looks like so much fun!

i'm interested to see how the swing mechanic is controlled and/or aimed, if it's cumbersome at all it could ruin the feel. half of the fun of the 2d one is swinging around like a madman, and these large.. seemingly outdoor environments that they've shown here aren't gonna let you do that, he's not spiderman...

basically, if i have to walk around for half of this game, i will be disappointed.

From the clips I've seen I doubt that you'll be disappointed then. It seems that the 'swing mecanic' is used a lot.

Based on what I've seen there is TONS of swinging so I woudln't be worried about that. It seems like using your feet is just for shooting and lining up your next jump (for the most part). And one thing that I've heard which is hard to tell in the videos... this game will take actual skill. It isn't like you just tap a button and the guy hooks onto the nearest ledge... you literally have to aim and nail it.. otherwise you will miss the grapple. The whole process is a lot more manual than it looks in the videos. I see this as a good thing because Bionic Commando was also a game of skill... the swinging mechanic is so fun.. because it takes a some practice to nail it just right and keep up a good rythem.

The last I heard about this game, the dev's were still polishing stuff up and most of that "polishing" was getting the swing mechanic down. SO it definitely seems that they were having problems with it so I hope they fix it, because everything else looks good.
