World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Launch Chatty

The second expansion pack to the number one game on the planet has been released.

Yes, Wrath of the Lich Kingfinally hit stores tonight, after a year of anticipation, a lengthy beta period, a cool introduction, a scripted attack, and many conflicted feelings.

While I don't have the time to play MMOs much anymore, I did spend a good while in the Lich King beta, and I was pretty impressed. The Death Knight class was a lot of fun, and the new talents were similarly entertaining. Northrend is also generally more interesting to explore than Outland--though I still think Blizzard is having a hard time topping the freshness of the original zones.

What are your release plans? Who's taking the day off? Remember to be discreet.

So far, I have to say WOTLK is quite fun. The phased instances for the Death Knight starting area caught me by surprise. It's so seamless that I didnt even know it was happening until I went back to go talk to Arthas and he wasnt there anymore. Definitely one of the best intro series of quests I've ever done.

Dont want to TL:DR this, so I'll just say that it's refreshing enough to bring me back from a near permanent hiatus. Cant wait till my DK is in Northrend.

Oh, one gripe. Being level 55 with no tradeskills sucks.

i'm pretty much a casual, and i quit months ago but fuck it i'll pick this up for an hour or two a night play time.

my question is how does the DK pvp look? i'm pretty sure most of my time played will be spent in bg's.

on that note, did they add or change any new bg's for this xpac? i really haven't paid attention for awhile and pretty much bypassed all the hype until now :(

I did everything to suppress my inner nerd for this one. No days off, just a pre-order of the normal box (not the CE), no plans for midnight launches.

So this morning i wake up and tell my wife i am going to pick up Wrath and play it all night....and she says:

Doing the same thing I did last year. Didn't bother with the midnight release, had stuff to do. Went to bed early got lots of sleep. Walked into the office to bleary eyed folks and laughed at them. Around lunch time walked into Circut City and picked up a copy from this big mega pile of them. Gave them cash and walked out.

Anyone that is 'camping' out for this or waited all night just to play it really wanted to do it to do it. There's no reason as blizzard has provided online copy to download, all the stores are packed to the brim with copies. There's no reason to camp out with sweatfy fatbeards who want to tell you all about their female undead warlock (yes I have one so what) and how she does a BAJILLION DEEPZ in her OMGILVL2451 Gear.

Give me the quiet empty stores any day.

I was at Barcelona. They set a real frozen throne on the entrance of the store were you can take a picture with your friends. The trail was huge, like 200 meters of 6 guys rows so figure out how many. Around 1am i couldnt get mine but now at the morning i walked to another store and I got it.

The most fun I had in wow was that first week where like 95% of people didn't know wtf. Walking around and finding shitty loot, going to deadwind pass and getting raped by "lvl skull" creatures. It almost makes me want to come back and check out what they did with the expansion; I just can't do it though. 18 units this semester and starting a new job soon :_[

Hah, just got back from Lunar Fest here in Austin, TX. I wasn't buying the game, but someone from my office was there with her family. It was a great laugh! There was a dance contest and giveaways and stuff, good fun! I left early since I wasn't buying the game.
