World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Launch Chatty

The second expansion pack to the number one game on the planet has been released.

Yes, Wrath of the Lich Kingfinally hit stores tonight, after a year of anticipation, a lengthy beta period, a cool introduction, a scripted attack, and many conflicted feelings. While I don't have the time to play MMOs much anymore, I did spend a good while in the Lich King beta, and I was pretty impressed. The Death Knight class was a lot of fun, and the new talents were similarly entertaining. Northrend is also generally more interesting to explore than Outland--though I still think Blizzard is having a hard time topping the freshness of the original zones.

What are your release plans? Who's taking the day off? Remember to be discreet.

im sure at some point its going to become to bloated and watered down from to many expansions like EQ did but i bet blizzard has their next big MMO in the works already to hook us all over again :(

I doubt it. EQ crapped out an expansion every couple months. WoW seems content to keep one every year and a half. It's a good deal. The main raiders are ready for new content at that point, and once you level to 80 the casuals will be able to go back to max out the last continent. I fully expect that at 80 me and my guild should be able to get through Black Temple without much worry.

Do you think we will be able to 10 man it at 80?

The fact that they have done such a great job of revising the gameplay with each expansion leads me to believe that the game will stay vital and interesting for a long time.

No. The day that WoW dies is the day that the internet will have changed into something else. It's basically guaranteed Blizzard's success for the next 10-15 years at least.

I would say alot of people will jump the WoW ship for whatever new MMO Blizzard comes out with next.

The game isn't that good, its just that no one else has done anything better. My old server was much lighter everytime a new MMO came out. People can be tempted out of it.

So if nobody has done anything better than means WoW is the best MMO. But it isn't isn't that good...
