Developer CCP today announced that publisher Atari will distribute CCP's spaceship MMO EVE online in retail outlets across North America, Europe and Asia.

The boxed version of EVE will hit stores for in March 2009.

CCP also teased some new footage of an unannounced game at its fan fest this weekend. The footage showed a "Halo-like shooter" with an EVE-like art style, according to Eurogamer.

The footage was shown following a presentation by CCP developers, which featured a slide that mentioned Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 development plans.

In addition to a large update to EVE Online, CCP is currently developing an MMO based on the White Wolf RPG series titled World of Darkness.

  • I'd really like for the WoD mmo to focus more heavily on social hierarchy, association and development than past MMOs. It's been shown with WAR that branching off from WoW's model by targeting a niche market can be successful... It's just a hypothesis but I'm thinking people that will like the WoD/Vampire/Werewolf/Occult material are going to lean towards enjoying a focus on more intricate guild structures and options as well as more distinct groups (such as the different kinds of Vamps and Werewolves like in WoD) rather than heavy PvE like WoW, or WAR with PvP. Not to say that stuff shouldn't be prominent just that I think CCP could really strike an MMO niche being the intricate social MMO and it certainly fits the WoD theme with all their detailed groups.

And we better be able to select from the full array of WoD beings, not just Vampires. Werewolves, Mages, Prometheans, Changelings and all that. Or at least get Vamps and WWs and fit the rest in later expansions of some sort- content patches or retail, either way as long as the value is good.
