EA Debuts Console-Mobile Phone Connectivity

2
EA revealed today that the console versions of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 can interface with the mobile edition for in-game bonuses, with EA stating this is its "first integration of a mobile phone game feature that can influence the console edition of the same title."

Dubbed Console Boost, the feature requires a free EA Account, awarding players with stat boosts in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the EA Tiburon-developed golfing game. The console versions hit earlier this year, the mobile version just launched.

Explained EA:

  • The CONSOLE BOOST earned by playing the mobile game is stored in the registered customer's EA account. Once the players apply the CONSOLE BOOST to their Xbox 360 or PLAYSTATION 3 accounts they see an immediate increase in the skill levels of their athletes.
  • The value of the CONSOLE BOOST upload varies depending on the skill level played on the mobile game (Amateur, Pro or Legend) and how well the user completes the series of challenges.
  • Challenges can be played on any of the courses in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09 mobile and there are varying requirements to complete the series of challenges.

Gotta buy both mobile and console versions to get this "CONSOLE BOOST". Just another marketing plot to buy more copies from EA. Buy two copies and get a cheat code that makes your player a leet golfer when you sign up with EA.

But sadly, people will buy into this.

This sounds... lame. Unless you're someone who goes to school or rides the bus to work. I just can't get into games on a cell phone. I'd rather just play on the console.

well, of course you do. They are 2 completely separate games, this is just a way to tie them together.
