Skate 2 Trailer: Cinematic Greatness Expected

Remember user-made Skate videos? Man, those were some great times. EA Black Box remembers them too, and they want to keep the party going in Skate 2. Using the established cinematic technique known as the "developer interview," Black Box staffers explain how players are given more control in their videos this time around.

Also, the fate of Grandma--the crash-landing pad of choice for many skaters in the original--is revealed. Skate 2 lands with a totally awesome wipe-out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2009.

Looks like some real improvements. Videos aren't really my thing, but the few times I've done it, I've felt pretty limited. It looks like this time we'll be able to do "realistic" movies.

Let's just say I have my doubts based on how horrible the first game's site experience is. At least you can snag the video and upload it to goonskate which (despite being frickin' privately owned) is about 572 times more reliable, easier to use, easier to sort, and easier to upload.

The EA account -> XBox tag process was particularly painful; I think I tried sync'ing it up upwards of 15 times before it finally "caught".

TL;DR: Please fix website first, add in-game functionality second. That part actually worked fine in the first game!

I can't wait for this one. My only hope is that in the "expanded functionality of the website" they include a friggin' download button. Or at the very very least an "embed" function. Seriously, that was the most aggravating part of the first skate.reel experience. You had to go to their website to see the video since they embedded them 10 layers deep in iframes. You couldn't even nab them with the various flash downloading firefox extensions. I would really love to be able to download, even at low res, the clips in a video format. That would be truly awesome.
