by Chris Faylor, Nov 05, 2008 7:35am PST

Midway Chicago's Teen-rated work on the magical fighting game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, 360) is now complete,

publisher Midway revealed today.

With the finished title and its legion of beloved characters now off to manufacturing, Midway confirmed that the game will make its promised North American retail debut on Sunday, November 16, followed by the European release on Friday, November 21.

"So far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic, and I can't wait to get this into the hands of MK diehards and DC Comics fans," noted executive producer and series co-creator Ed Boon.

  • If it sucks, it sucks. However, being that the hands-on previews have overwhelmingly been positive, and this game gives me the opportunity to have Batman beat down Superman like he did in the Dark Knight Returns graphic novel, I am going to give it a try.

From the looks of it, in most areas that aren't related to gore, it reminds me of old-school MK action polished up with some new tricks that look like a lot of fun.

Also, having been a veteran of the SNES edition of the first MK, many of you are overstating the lack of gore when comparing the two games. At least there is SOME blood here, and as long as the gameplay is fun, will it really matter that much if, for once, an MK game doesn't have cartoonish levels of gore? Besides, if this does well, they want to make a grim reboot of the series, and the rest of you complainers will get the MK you wish this one was.
