Warhammer Online Grabs 800,000 Subscribers

19
Mythic's MMO Warhammer Online has surpassed 800,000 subscribers, according to recently released Electronic Arts financial documents. As Eurogamer points out, the number shows an increase of around 50,000 subscribers over the month of October, proving that Warhammer is growing in the face of strong competition. Publisher EA has sold a total of 1.2 million copies of WAR since its release in September.

Direct competitor Blizzard recently announced that World of Warcraft has now ensnared over 11 million subscribers, an increase of 1 million subscribers between this January and October.

Ahahah I'm in this boat. I love Warhammer, but Fallout 3 is like my gaming wet dream made reality, and I haven't been able to pull myself away from it.

Damn Fallout 3. I pre-ordered WAR Collectors because I LOVED DAoC and I haven't played past level 9 yet. I have four friends calling me non-stop to play but I just can't seem to get up the ambition. Like other people on here it seems to me to just be lacking some kinda magic. Maybe it's polish, maybe it needed more time, I'm not sure. BUT Fallout... my god what an AWESOME game. WAY better than WAR.

Oh and another thing... maybe WoW just sapped all my ambition to be interested in MMOs. Honestly the next title I'm looking forward to is Diablo3... and that's a long way off...

My alt-itis has ran it's course (for now), so this is exactly what I'm doing.

Something tells me I'm going to be disappointed, but we'll see...

I actually feel bad, because I am playing Fallout 3, and I fear that one of the great killers of MMO's (other than just crappiness) is the smell of death. I am contributing to the low pop on the server right now, because I can't stop exploding mutant heads.
