In commemoration of Halloween, publisher Namco Bandai has issued a new trailer and screenshots from BottleRocket's PS3 and Xbox 360 revival of Splatterhouse.

Due out in 2009, the latest entry in the famed ultra-gory action franchise puts players in the role of college student Rick Taylor, who must don the Terror Mask and rip enemies limb from limb in order to save his girlfriend from "a legion of gruesome monsters."

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

same. i remember playing it in the arcade in the late 80's/early 90's. good times. of course this remake will have none of the charm and atmosphere that made the original so great. sigh.

I didn't like the 3rd one, but the first 2 were just creepy fun arcade games. I loved the art design.

it was a game with wanton gore and violence - i loved it for that reason alone... though the only version I ever recall playing on my Genesis - perhaps 2 or 3.

That all said, yea, this game looks like shit, but it's way to early to tell. Even then this is going to be a bargain bin title anyways.
