Following up on the late August release of Mercenaries 2 (PC, PS2, PS3, 360), EA publishing COO John Pleasants has stated that "there will be a Mercenaries 3, and if I can have anything to do with it, there will be a Mercenaries 10."

The Pandemic-developed open-world action game sequel has sold 1.9 million copies since it hit retailers, the company revealed during a conference call yesterday.

With EA riding a wave of planned sequels--Dead Space 2, Army of Two 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 along with Mirror's Edge 2 and 3--Pleasants noted that future Dead Space and Mirror's Edge games "are not likely to be annual sequels."

He also promised a strong future for the Spore franchise, vowing that both expansion packs and new business models are coming for the Maxis-helmed evolution series.

I played through the entire game (360) without encountering a single 'game stopping bug' or anything close to that.

Bad taste in games I would say.
either this... or the "frat boy" gamers have something to do with this.

      1) The first game was awesome

      2) They had a good ad campaign

I hope the third is a lot more like #1.

^ This, pretty much. There's also the fact that it's fun, if on the shallow side.

#3 probably won't be an insta-buy though, whereas #2 was on the strength of its predecessor. I'm going to wait and see where they go from here.

It's really fun in coop. Some people still have friends.

I played the PC demo, and on the very first tank I tried to jack, the third timed button press referred to a control I evidently didn't have available (I pressed EVERY button that was bound to an action - I tried like 15 times), and so I gave up (plus clipping, wallhacking AI, framerate drops to 5fps (or so) and rather bland graphics.
Pissed me off too, as I had been getting excited enough to show my friends videos of this cool game I would soon be purchasing. I wound up not doing so.
