Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Lacks Guts

Midway today released a montage of finishing moves from its upcoming fighting game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, 360).

The bloodless trailer arrives a day after the news that several of the game's fatalities were tweaked in order to earn a T for Teen rating by the ESRB.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 16.

Midway is in for a rude awakening. Parents and everyone else that hated the game and wanted it pulled from shelves will STILL link the MK brand to violence and not buy it for their kids. Everyone else that liked what the brand brought to the table will skip over this release because what made it MK has been removed. Good job on killing ANY chance this game had in the market. Hope the license was worth it to you.

Honestly, this doesn't even warrant the name, "Mortal Kombat"... No blood! No guts? With how many backlashed the original Mortal Kombat for the SNES for using green goo, this new game just won't cut it.

What a joke this franchise is turning into. What looks promising just now got shit to the curb with bloodless and horrific fatalities.

Bye Bye Midway! It was nice knowing ya!

Doesn't anyone take a page from Rockstar? Make the game 10x more naughty than the schoolmarms will tolerate, and then hide some truly vile stuff in the code for enterprising hackers to find and give you headlines 6 months into the game's life cycle.

If it's DC comics that's pulling the content, someone should remind them how graphic their comics have been getting lately.

The worst thing is that I was actually looking forward to this one at one point..
Now.. I doubt I'll get it (unless it gets outstanding reviews) - and I'm sure I'm not alone thinking this.
Removing the blood (is it completely? (earlier trailers had blood)) / tweaking fatalities is just beyond pointless.

After reading about the Jokers fatality getting 'killed'.. - that was what made be go from a definite buy - not buying state of mind. Ah Midway.. don't fucking sell out on your franchise.

Dear Ed Boon,

I was looking forward to your next MK game. I've always loved what new aspects you have done for the series, but taking out the blood and violence, just to get DC...well...I'm disapointed. Bring back MK. You have one more shot I believe. Better hurry though.

The whole thing was a bad move. That's not mortal kombat. I mean, do you remember how people desperately screamed when they edited the first ones? Now this has nothing what made the 2d titles great, minus the fun of the blood and fatalities. It had the cheesy asia/american crossover, lots of blood and 80s style. Then it had a retarded but fun story, and cool fatalities. What has this?

Im dissapointed. :( I don't want to start a flamewar, just expressing my opinion

Bloodless fatalities are like tireless exercise of sugar free delicious food. Even if I could play this game I wouldn't. But only because when I was 7 my mum would tell me off for playing the in store demos of mortal kombat :(
