New Empire: Total War Screenshots Sail Into View

Creative Assembly has released a few more screenshots of its upcoming large-scale strategy title Empire: Total War.

Set during the Napoleonic age of the 1800s, Empire will feature massive RTS battles on both land and sea. The turn-based campaign map is set to feature conquerable representations of North America, the Indies, Europe, and North Africa.

Empire: Total War is scheduled for a February 3 release on PC.

Let's just hope that they've renewed it enough for it to feel fresh. If it's just Rome: TW for the third time but with added ship-battles, then that's going to feel a bit tired.

Also, wasn't cities supposed to be fully animated on the campaign map? I remember reading about this on Eurogamer maybe one or two years ago, but haven't managed to find anything on it since. I've always kind of felt with the Total War series - since Rome anyway - that the campaign-map feels a bit too detached from the actual battles that take place on it.

I love the look of this game, and I adore massed battles. But I just know I'll play a few scenarios, remember what a battlefield/empire strategy retard I am, then shelve it. :(
