Need for Speed Undercover Trailer: Automotive Silliness
by Blake Ellison, Oct 27, 2008 12:24pm PDTEA has released a new trailer for its Black Box studio's Need for Speed Undercover, the latest in the arcade racing series. This time, a lengthy gameplay video shows lots of the in-game world and the ease of pulling common tricks like doughnuts and 180s.
No matter which platform--PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS or PSP--Undercover shifts into top gear on November 18.

Playing a driving game at that frame rate is completely devoid of any proper sense of speed. And your eyes will bleed. And your head hurt.
When they have a fixed system, or console, why do they do that?

Unrealistic physics?: Of course. If you ever seen a Porsche driving, you'll know it's not possible. I wouldn't even dream of such a weird excessive steering/acceleration behaviour.
I'd like to see the damage models of the cars, if there are any.
He done extreme burnouts. (I don't see how you can present a physics engine by that) Ever thought of what would happen to the tires when he does that? It was useless.
Graphics: No _big_ improvements ever since Underground/MostWanted. They keep it because
PS3,Xbox360 can't take any much higher - and this is to 100% a console title in the first way.
Road Traffic: Empty. Ugly low detailed and obviously extremly often repeating vehicles.
People? No people on the streets, is that possible? I want to see a city FILLED with them, and I want to see them using ragdoll physics on accidental crashes.
Yes I know, the garbage consoles wouldn't be able to handle it at all.
Innovation?: Could yet not find any. They are reusing the ideas/design from Most Wanted.
Oh wait. He mentioned one thing about the camera. ...it rotated. (when you mess around and not race)
Just another rushed cheap NFS title for christmas time, as usual.

How unrealistic is the driving? It was more realistic in Carbon than this.
He says he is using MPH as his driving unit, and he takes a corner at 150mph and calls it drifting. I was looking forward to a new Need For Speed, but this video pretty much sums it up for me!

NFS is and always was a video game, not a racing simulator...
