Shack PSA: Overlord Playable for Free on GameTap Tomorrow

4
Attention Shacknews shoppers! We at Shacknews know that you're a cheapskate that you appreciate a good value, and with that in mind we thought we'd direct you over to GameTap, where Overlord (PC, 360, PS3) is free starting tomorrow.

Overlord, a minion-leading action game with a fantasy-world slant, was released in 2007 from Triumph Studios to solid reviews. "You have a busy day: peasants to slaughter, villages to burn, hopes to dash," implores the game's promotional writing. "There's a baby with some candy that needs taking the next town over," it adds.

So, if not for the fact that it's free, go play Overlord for the sake of the candy.

Free? As far as I can tell it requires a subscription. Shame. I liked the demo...

as far as i can tell (i researched a little just now, including calling their customer support hotline) the game is only playable "Free" as long as your subscription is active. Overlord, at the moment, is listed as a "Gold Members" only game, which means you need an active, paying account.

If the game goes to their "Green" level members then it will be "Free" as long as you had at one time an active account. Meaning, you'd have to sign up and pay the 99 cents for the first month, then you could cancel and your account would then be "Green" level and you'd stop subscribing but still be able to play Overlord.

Someone else mentioned that Gametap updates on Thursdays, so I guess we'll have to see what happens. Even if it goes to "Green" level however, the game still won't be "free".

      Now I have blue balls.

Which would make this news post little more than advertising.

        How very irritating.

I'm assuming they were talking about that it was going to go "green" since this game has been available to gold members for awhile.
