First, those in North America should be able to find Dead Space in stores tomorrow. I think it's worth a look, as I came away impressed, and a little scared.
Second, we're one day closer to Friday, which, coincidentally, is when my Xbox 360 comes back from ye olde repair shop. Come home soon darling, I miss you :(
Oh, and if you're one of those Diablo fans, you pretty much need to check out the mind-boggling display of Diablo 3 information that Nick has compiled in his Diablo 3: What We Know So Far preview.
I managed to solve it by restarting Firefox in Safe Mode.
In Windows, click Start, open the All Programs list, and navigate to the Mozilla Firefox folder. In the Mozilla Firefox folder, select Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode).

Simply put, I'm having a blast. I traveled down the left wing of Bastion Stair a few times last night and, like all of the T4 content, it's awesome. The environment, the mobs, the PQs, and the bosses are awesome and can at times be hilarious (see: centaur that rapes people in seconds using electricity). The scenarios can admittedly be just as frustrating as those in T3, but hey... no lava!!!
Now, lately, I've noticed a great deal of discontent for the game, especially with T3. I'm not going to try and convince anyone to stick it out because I've found that even if I do manage to convince someone, they still end up never playing and eventually quitting anyway. I will say this though, every single MMOG I've played, whether it be DAoC, Ragnarok, Shadowbane, LOTRO, or Wow, has it's very own "T3."
The game has been out for what, about a month now? To expect Mythic to have every single tier decked out with uber exciting scenarios and easy-going leveling is as absurd as expecting them to have every single bug fixed. Yeah, this statement is coming from a pretty big Mythic fan but as I stated above, this is true across the ENTIRE BOARD.
If you want to take a break or head back to WoW / some other MMOG, that's cool. I just wanted to toss this perspective out there to see if anyone else could relate.

RomSteady is in town, is staying in a hotel near the Foggy Bottom/GMU station, gets done with meetings at around 6, and apparently has crappy internet (but can get his e-mail).
So, now that we've established that I'm a vastly better stalker than gmd, does anyone want to get together tonight for dinner or something? I figure somewhere near that area at somewhere around that time. I'm not sure what's near there actually.

It's about that time where you're either in, or you're out. So please to be making up your minds and marking the shackmeet page either way so we can have a head count.
If you need a ride, that shouldn't be a problem, there are shackers coming from New York and the DC area who have volunteered to ferry Shackers.
If you're coming by some other means of transportation and need to be picked up from an airport or train station, please let myself or ThomW know WELL IN ADVANCE, so we can make arrangements with you.

I've shot a few different handguns and rifles before (and a musket, which proved to me that I would've died VERY quickly in the Revolutionary War), but my favorite gun so far has been the SKS. I loved being able to empty my friend's 20 round clip in a few seconds, ensuring once and for all that those bottles and cans would never give me shit again.
If I decided to pick up one of my very own, which I'm not sure would be even legal under California's gun laws, where are some places that I should look for the best prices and good accessories for it?

for a project my client wants some forums. I don't care what language it's programmed in, except it has to work on linux. It needs to support postgresql too.
I am going to have to integrate the login/authentication system of the forums with my client's app, so it needs to be modular. I also need to skin it to make it look like the app somewhat.

There is a girl I know. I worked with her about 3 jobs ago. I've barely kept in contact since, just the occasional facebook message. To be honest when we worked together I think we only talked about 10 times. I was also in a relationship at the time.
Anyway, there is basically no chance of me meeting this girl in a social setting by chance, we don't have the same circle of friends at all. We live in the same town but at opposite sides so I assume we don't go to the same bars etc. I don't have anyway of contacting her except via facebook (ugh). She absolutely has no idea that I might be interested in her.
What is a good way to ask her out, out of the blue without it being weird?

You know, I'm wondering how much of this piracy EA and other publishers try and prevent has anything to do with torrent sites and cracked exes. I mean, everyone generally assumes that DRM is attempting to prevent a glut of torrent downloads, even then I think a good % of the piraters would never buy half the games they steal even if piracy became impossible. Time and time again, no DRM actually prevents it and I would think that publishers are aware of this.
So, maybe the DRM is largely there to prevent casual pirating by people who hardly even know what a torrent is, but pass their copy of Spore around to friends and family? Draconic install-count/machine-spec limitations would go a long way to halt that kind of piracy.
I'm mostly thinking aloud here and have no factual knowledge to back up my speculations. What do you all think? I was going to post this in the EA DRM article but FP threads rarely have real discussion...
