we play a little game now yes?

we guess what diablo 3's offical release date will be.

rules:

1. reply to this comment with a release date in format year/month/day (ex: 2137/02/12). entries not is this exact format will be rejected.
2. shacker must have at least 500 comments on shacknews.com to qualify entry
3. release date will be based on date given by blizzard as posted on http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/. if a clear release date is not posted on http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/ prior to diablo 3's release, the amazon.com release date as it stands two weeks prior diablo 3's actual release will be used.
5. winner will have picked the date of the release exactly, or if no entry matches exact release date, the closest date either before or after the actual release date will be selected as the winner.
5. in the event of a tie, (ex: release date 2010/02/04, entry A is 2010/02/01 entry B is 2010/02/07), the entry that is closest without going over (entry A in ex) will be the winner.
6. one grand prize will be given to the winner.
7. grand prize will be the official collectors edition of diablo 3. in the event that the collectors edition is more the $150 a amazon.com gift certificate for $150 will be substituted.
8. grand prize will be awarded as a pre-order gift with fastest shipping option shipped directly to winner from amazon.com as soon as the first(hopefully only) release date is posted on http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/. if a release date is never posted on http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/ the grand prize will be awarded two weeks prior to diablo 3's actual release date based on amazon.com's release date.
9. there is no cost to enter.
10. you have my word that i will follow through. i'm doing this for fun and will cancel the contest for any reason, at any time if i choose (i wonder if this really covers any/all legal remifications?).
11. only dates posted as direct replys to this comment will be accepted.
12. only one entry per qualifying shacker will accepted.
12. entires will be accepted until 12:01am monday october 13th.
13. only the first 250 entires will be accepted.

15. oh ya if diablo 3 is broken up into multiply releases (ie part 1 part 2, ect ect, only the first part will be awarded as the grand prize)
16. if you replied to my previous comment post, http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=18156577#itemanchor_18156577, that asked if there was any interest in a pool like this one with a date, that didn't count.
17. posting questions about this pool or the rules will be ignored. i have the final say as to who wins blah blah blah, let's all have some FUN!

OK, I haven't seen this posted here. I know that there are a lot of Ultima fans on this site so here is something for you guys; Ultima V completely redone using the Dungeon Siege engine. It's pretty damn awesome to say the least.

Playing call of duty 4 for the first time, infact its my first COD experiance ever. Really impressed but i'm finding it really difficult to spot the enemies and quite often where i should be going. I feel like i'm getting to old for these new games :( Am i missing something about how to go about this kind of shooter?

but still enjoying it, to make things even better, my room mate just got a free HDtv from a relative and everything is looking quite spiffy.

Crysis Wars free weekend

So the free weekend is almost over and I haven't gotten to try Crysis Wars. Fuck. And you know what would have helped? Putting the damn free weekend on... I duno, Steam? Instead I spent about 6 hours downloading four 1.5 gig rar files from fileshack only for them to be corrupted (who's fault i'm not sure, but not the point here). Then spending about an hour hunting down mirrors only to find several with broken links (gamespot, bigdownloads, etc) or other ones that require accounts created. Luckily I remembered my fileplant account so I jumped into a 30min queue. Unlucky for me I wasn't around when the download was ready and missed my slot. Fuck.

Piracy isn't killing the PC, it's stupid shit like this that has plagued the PC for a decade. Publishers, listen up. Steam is a godsend. Use it. And (probably) profit. It alleviates all this bullshit. Anyways I probably won't buy Crysis Wars now because I didn't get to try it.

Iphone Dev Menz

I'm wanting to look into making a simple game on the iphone - I have some experience in C/C++ and would be animating / modeling my own assets... however I don't want to really be making my own engine

Does anyone know much about the GarageGames Torque engine for iphone? Their website doesn't seem to be that informative of if it can use all of the iphones features (such as tilting / rotating the phone)

You know that feeling you get when your foot falls asleep and it feels all tingly and numb? Well I have had that same feeling in my left hand for 1 full day now going on 2. It even extends into my left arm. Is this something I should get checked out because it feels very unsettling since it has lasted this long. Any advice will be appreciated.

So circumcision posts aside.

Vista Pro x64 and Chrome. Anyone else getting sweet, no blue screen or anything, lock-ups and reboots? It's happened about 4-5 times now. When scrolling pages using the side slider, some others had flash video on them if I'm not mistaken.

This hasn't happened once on my other machine running XP Pro x86, so just trying to figure out whether its hardware or software.

DC Metro Area Shackers Dungeons & Dragons / D&D / DnD 4th Edition - "Kobold Hall" Session 2

Last night the (as yet unnamed) party continued from where they'd left off at sub-basement 1 down through sub-basement 2 and 3, killing lots of Kobolds and a pair of Guard Drakes along the way while also falling victim to several nefarious traps laid by the crafty Kobolds. The PCs took plenty of damage and suffered several knock-downs, but they were able to adapt, improvise, and overcome by the skin of their various-raced teeth.

Two party members couldn't make it last night; I played the missing cleric (Praesil) which probably worked out for the best with the four extra Healing Words. The Dwarf fighter hasn't been able to make it to a session yet, so that PC has sat out both game days.

I just realized that of all the new TV this fall, the only new show I'm watching is True Blood. Everything else is completely shit and I gave up on it.
