Leaked Xbox Dashboard Video Demonstrates Installed Games, Faster Load Times

The latest leaked video of the upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update highlights the ability to install games to the hard drive and the reduced loading times that ensue.

Though games will stream off the hard drive after installation, players will still need to have the proper game disc in their console for copy protection purposes.

Slated to arrive this fall, the free system update known as the New Xbox Experience includes a revised interface, Netflix streaming, customizable player Avatars, support for optional game installs, and more. Thanks to Kotaku for the heads up.

I guess that's obvious but what's the point? Are load times really that bad on some games? I was thinking about upgrading to 120GB drive but if you still need the disc then fuck it.

i got the ps3 version of this game and if these videos are legit then I'm surprised the ps3 version is slower than the DVD in this video because I notice i have to wait a few more of those drawn screens till it gets to about the one with Niko in the car...

thats with the game already installed partially on the ps3 hard-drive

It was funny how there was a fan talking point encouraged by MS a couple of months ago about games using hard drive space as if that were a bad thing (the video above shows why it's silly). Hopefully this is the end of that nonsense.

Now I wonder what gen the 360 was and what size HDD was used in this video.

Have they addressed the possible piracy issue with this? I'm assuming you still need the DVD in the tray regardless if it's installed on the hard drive or not?
