Midway has let loose another over-the-top trailer for its muy ridiculoso arcadey football game, Blitz: The League II. This time around, a "late hit" feature brings a fighting mini-game to the end of many--if not most--plays.

Blitz returns to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 13. Players are advised to wear a cup.

O.k. I appreciate the late hits and all, but punching a player who has a helmet on is the aboslute DUMBEST thing. Seriously, who is making this game? Do they have any clue that punching a football player with a helmet on is pointless? The kicking and all is fine, but punching a helmet is dumb.

ahahaha these trailers are utterly hilarious. This may very well be the worst (best?) video game ever created in terms of how (wonderfully?) juvenile the concept is. One of the teams is even called the Cleveland Steamers. Needless to say this game isn't endorsed by the NFL.

My question is though, why not go all out? Sure, you've got graphic injuries, amateur surgery, and groin-kicking beatdowns. But why not have the players carry shivs under their uniforms? Why not have full-out projectile decapitations? Eye-gouging, waterboarding, cheerleader cum shots? The posibillities are endless!

I mean, since it's already over-the-top, why not take it to the next level? Maybe we'll just have to wait for Blitz: The League 3. :(

I'm glad the NFL is sucking Madden's cock; it lets us have games like this without worrying about licensing or image.

The original NFL BLITZ used extreme physicality and violence as an exclamation mark to punctuate the over-the-top football being played. That was the draw. The footage from this new title that's been showcased thus far has really only illustrated how much the people currently handling the franchise don't understand that.

You know, this is pretty neat as far as arcade style football goes. I was talking with my brother the other day tho, and we were talking about back in the old sega genesis days, renting and playing Mutant league football and hockey, anyone remember those? That was hours and hours of fun. I wish someone would make a next gen version of one of those games, it was truely awsome.
