Nintendo DSi and DS Lite Compared
While many changes to the hardware have been subtle, a slightly bigger pair of screens are immediately noticeable.
The DS Lite's light panel showing power and battery status has been moved to the left side of the console and has gained a third light to show the status of the handheld's newly emphasized Wi-Fi connection.
The speaker holes have been reduced to one large hole, possibly hiding revised audio hardware underneath. The power button has also been moved inside the folding device. The center hole, which once housed the microphone, has been enlarged to fit the inward camera for taking self-portraits. The DSi has also had a slight dimensional change, essentially getting shorter and fatter.
Not visible in this side-to-side image is the system's new SD card slot or the new outward camera, but those images are reproduced on Shacknews as well.
Progress comes with a price, and as such the system will lose its Game Boy Advance cartridge slot as well as a few hours of battery life. VE3D spotted that the official DSi specifications reduce the full brightness battery life of the DSi to 3-4 hours, whereas the DS Lite ran on full brightness for 5-8 hours.

I don't understand the new speaker. It just doesn't make sense. Before, we could at least get somewhat decent stereo sound without having to plug in the headphones - But now it seems we have basically reverted back to mono sound. Now, I realize there may be more to it - But the fact remains, the sound is physically coming out of one small location. Really, all the new features seem silly. I could care less about a camera, and I could care less about basically integrated Play-Yan. I have other products which function as a camera or MP3 player just fine. The larger screen is nice - But thats about it. I'd like to see the DS Lite sport the new screen and the enhanced wifi support - The other crap I could care less about.

There are still two sound outputs (stereo), that picture just doesn't show the right side of the DSi. As for the battery life, I won't mind much since I usually played my DSL at home where there are plenty of power plugs, and since I driver my own car I don't see many chances to play on the road, nor am I ever at a place where I can just whip out a game for 3-4 hours without anything else to do. I think people sort of over blow the whole battery life thing. Chances are, wherever you are, there is some type of power socket available.

I think you have it wrong. There are still two speakers, one on each side of the top screen. With the DS Lite, there were 6 tiny holes above each speaker. With the DSi, there is now one much larger hole over each speaker.
