Nintendo Bringing Personal Trainer Series to US; Includes Cooking, Math and Walking Games
by Blake Ellison, Oct 02, 2008 11:18am PDTNintendo announced during a press event today that the Nintendo DS Personal Trainer series will be coming to the United States, starting with cooking, math, and walking games.
A popular genre in Japan for several years, Nintendo will try to bring that success Stateside starting with Personal Trainer: Cooking, a cookbook boasting over 200 recipes from worldwide cuisines and instructional videos. The digital cookbook will launch on November 24, just in time for Thanksgiving. It is unknown at this time whether a turkey recipe is included.
The next two Personal Trainer titles, coming in 2009 are Math, an arithmetic trainer, and Walking, which includes the wireless pedometer accessory rumored over the last two weeks.
In Japan, the personal training genre includes a number of quiz and trivia games along with academic training software for standardized tests and school subjects through high school. That demand is now being filled in the U.S. with third-party DS titles like My SAT Coach and foreign language lesson programs.
