NASCAR Driver Tries Video Game Trick in Race, Loses
by Blake Ellison, Sep 29, 2008 11:07am PDTNASCAR driver Carl Edwards was in second place going into the final lap of Sunday's NASCAR Camping World RV 400. Desperate to edge ahead, he employed his video game knowledge and slammed his car into the concrete outer wall of the track, expecting a bump in speed. It didn't work.
"I planned on hitting the wall, but I didn't plan on the wall slowing me down that much," Edwards said to the
AP. "In video games, you can just run into the wall and run it wide open. That's what I did, but it didn't quite work out the same as the video game." Edwards finished the race in second place.
Rival Jimmie Johnson took advantage of Edwards' concrete detour to take the race and the lead in the season standings. "I still can't explain to you how surprised I was and shocked. Still, it was pretty damn cool to see him bouncing around like that and skipping off the wall," he remarked. The video is below

This is a pretty hilarious article though. It reminds me heavily of Talladega Nights.

It's kinda like what Genjuro thinks he can do, but ends up taking out 2 other cars with him.
If he really had some balls, he ought to try it at Darlington.
Carl Edwards FTW
At least he has a sense of humor about leaving half of his car body on the track.
