EndWar Trailers Discuss Voice Command, Combat

Publisher Ubisoft has issued two new trailers for Ubisoft Shanghai's voice-controlled World War III strategy game Tom Clancy's EndWar, which arrives in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 form on November 4.

Not to dis the game or anything as it might be an absolute blast, but I cant see myself constantly chatting into a mic to play a RTS.. what happens when it doesnt understand your order? what if the timing of it was crucial? I would rahter depend on a silent mind and quick hands for that.

Oh, that is really cool but it just sounds like "voice hotkeys" - when they talked about it in the dev. diaries, I thought you could actually like, talk to your units.

Whatever, it's still cool. The game doesn't really look that great to me but I'd love to get my "voice" on the game. Though seeing gameplay and unit info, it looks ok. Just a little too simple for my tastes I guess.

This game didnt like my accent at all. Putting on an american accent (terrible though it is) helped the game pick up commands for me.

I have hopes for advancement in the technology of voice commands in gaming. My disability has stopped me from playing some of my old favorite genres of games (Flight sims, space sims, even some RTS), due to the amount of keyboard commands needed for shortcuts / functions, and my lack of arm strength to reach accross the keyboard fast in the heat of battle.

I'd love to be able to play a good space sim again, where I could bark out commands to adjust my shields, switch weapons to proton torpedos, and increase thrusters to 90%.

So here's to ya EndWar, I hope you can pull it off. And I hope other dev's take notice.
