New Duke Nukem Forever Screenshots Released (Updated with Official HD Shots)
by Chris Faylor, Sep 29, 2008 12:23pm PDTUpdate:
At long last, after a series of low-res pictures and Motorola KRZR-produced images, 3D Realms has officially released the two new Duke Nukem Forever shots.
Original Story (9/26/08): Tucked away within this week's Xbox 360 release of Duke Nukem 3D were two new screenshots of 3D Realms' long-in-development sequel Duke Nukem Forever.
Available only upon earning all of the game's achievements, the screenshots can be found within the Duke Nukem 3D art gallery.
Thanks to 3DR forumite Steve and fansite Duke4.net for supplying better quality images of the new media prior to the official 3DR release.

That being said... You guys that continue to heap praise upon 3drealms and the D3D franchise need a serious reality check. Am I the only one that continues to have a big problem with the small fact that Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for 11 years?! 11 years people! ...and all we have to show for it are continued clandestine screenshots hidden and buried deep in bonus material for a decade old game that was just released on XBLA. As much as I loved the original Duke and am enjoying playing the game and reliving some fun memories, it doesn't excuse the inept and unexcusable development cycle for their follow up game which will always go down in history as the most delayed video game EVER in the industry, period. I wish some of this effort to eternally MILK the industry for the success of an age old game would be redirected to FINISHING YOUR 11 YEAR OLD SEQUEL for God's sake. Get with the program George Broussard. Your fans deserve more than having our wallets tapped YET AGAIN for a game you guys developed over a decade ago while DNF continues to stagnate. In all the D3D XBLA excitement and pandemonium down there at 3drealms did you guys think to get perhaps a small DNF milestone completed? Perhaps a whole new poster of concept art that will never make it into professional modeling software?
Some of you guys can call me bitter and that's fine... but I think after 11 years I have ever reason to be.

Some say this media hype is a ramp-up for the release. Others say it's not important anymore. Who knows what's true? All I know is that The Duke is around again and we're all swapping stories.
I remember registering to the 3DR forum back in 2001 after that awesome trailer with the NPCs moving their lips and eyes, and the rain effects, and I watched that shit frame-by-fucking-frame!!!!
If you're bitter, what made you bitter? When did The Duke change for you, and the love wasn't there?
If you're a die-hard fan, what keeps that flame in your heart for The Duke alive?
For me, I just love a good good ol' Duke thread.

When they showed the 1998 trailer, at the time it looked like the best game ever.

When they showed the 2001 trailer it still looked like the best game ever.

When they showed the 2008 trailer it showed absolutely nothing interesting at all except specular lighting and normal maps, which we are all quite familiar with now anyways, yawn.

Id like to think somewhere there is the video that makes me excited again and this time id like to be followed by a released game.

I'm serious. 4/1/09 is also a Tuesday, *the* release date for games/DVDs.

Hey 3dr, how about some PC screens, 1920x1200; including at least x2 fsaa? Of course, that's assuming the PC version actually supports fsaa.

But i think the problem with no having a single release in 11 years, will in the end make it harder for them to be successful. Even if Duke4er turns out better then good, that might not be good enough. Considering the fact that the market has changed so much and a lot of people don't even know what/who duke is. Esp. on the console world, it's gonna be a tougher sell then they think.
That said, I for one will play it ON release day. Hopefully rather sooner then later but with (once again) so many other games coming out, I really don't care when it comes out...

Any why is it when I go to the local strip clubs, the girls don't look like that!?
Unless I can get some uber hardware for cheap there, I won't be playing this for a long while :(
(Unless I get back before it's released)
