Fallout 3 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide Becomes GameStop Online Pre-order Bonus

Retailer GameStop has revealed that it will offer the propaganda-rich Fallout 3 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide to those that pre-order the RPG from GameStop's site. Initially released as a promotional giveaway during this year's Penny Arcade Expo, the thick booklet--available here in its entirety--provides an comprehensive and humorous look at the post-apocalyptic world gamers will find when the Bethesda-developed title hits PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 28.

While the Survival Guide will be free to pre-order customers, GameStop cautions that supplies are limited, with the offer only extended to online orders, not in-store pickup.

Is it just me or have these "pre-order exclusive" jumped up ridiculously after "Digital Distribution vs. Retail!" headlines started coming up?

    I'm all for these extra goodies being retail exclusives, but I saw a Far Cry 2 trailer saying you get 6 bonus missions if you pre-order at gamestop.
    
    Great! Pre-order at gamestop and pay full price and you get the full game!
    
    Still, I'm kinda disappointed that this isn't the manual that comes with the game, the original Fallout Manuals (despite being long) were very fun to read.

  I think it's more of an attempt to fight piracy, but imho if that's the case they are doing it all wrong.

    Yeah but if that's the case I think it's a step in the right direction, despite just a baby step. After all, you want to give the legitimate buyers a better product than the pirates do. It's why so many people pirated spore (and not just in protest) - because you got a better version than the actual retail copy!
