Level-5 Teams with Studio Ghibli for The Another World
by Blake Ellison, Sep 24, 2008 11:47am PDTLevel-5, developers of the Professor Layton series, have announced Ninokuni (The Another World), a unique adventure game in partnership with Japanese animation giant Studio Ghibli.
A celebration of Level-5's tenth anniversary, Ninokuni will be a DS adventure title that comes with a "Magic Master" book. The book, also an in-game item carried by the main character, is full of magic crests, spell recipes and the like. The player will then refer to the physical book while playing the game, according to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu as translated by NeoGAF.
Studio Ghibli, the company behind animated classics such as My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke, will provide animations for the game, much to fans' delight. Famitsu also revealed that a console version of the game will be released later, but platforms have not yet been decided.
An American release was not mentioned, but previous Level-5 productions, including Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King, have made it to the Western world.

I really don't know quite why I have such a hard time with their games, because it's obvious that they're doing something right given the critical acclaim their games generally get.
