Rumor: New Xbox 360 Dashboard in November [Updated]

Update: NeoGAF member Kafel corroborated the picture from Joystiq and added a shot from another page of the ad section. It reads:

"Coming in November, playing Rock Band 2 and meeting up with your band mates on your Xbox 360 will be better than ever thanks to the New Xbox Experience," and links to a features list and videos of the new dashboard.

The Xbox 360's new look, due this fall

Original Story: The Xbox 360 dashboard has outed itself: the pending avatar-loving update, dubbed the New Xbox Experience, will arrive in November--if a Rock Band 2 advertisement on the console is to be believed.

"Check out the New Xbox Experience coming in November!" reads the screen in the Rock Band 2 ad section as pictured on Joystiq.

The dashboard update, which overhauls the Xbox 360 main interface and adds hard drive installation of games, has always been due for a rather vague "fall" and certainly will not follow next week's scheduled Xbox Live downtime.

Shacknews was unable to confirm the rumor.

I don't an x360 (though I have used them) so I might not fully understand how this is going to be implemented, but these screenshots seem to demonstrate an immense waste of real-estate. I suppose what they're trying to do is simplify what's on screen by only giving the user so much to look at, but for those of us who can sit down at a new device and understand the UI inside-out within about 30 seconds, isn't this a step backward?

Enough about the dashboard update... I want to know what it is that they're announcing for Rock Band 2. They said there would be something big being added in the next month and I assume this has something to do with it. Anyone know what this is adding to Rock Band 2?

I thought we had a date of November 15 for the Fall Update a long time back? I've been counting the seconds until I can install the games to the harddrive (and actually finish Mass Effect, Dead Rising and a couple others)!

Hopefully this one will actually work. The last one red-ringed my box and even today loads slow as hell when pulling images down (especially the Xbox Originals game covers.)

I dont understand the complaints about this. MS has done nothing but the right things with the xbox live interface, and believe they will continue to do so. They only fuck up they had was the hardware. I have total faith this update will rock.

the thing that I hate about the 360 interface is that the fonts are huge and it doesn't display much on it...I love the psn interface because it actually makes use of a 1080p screen....no crappy listboxes that display 5 things on it...no huge fonts..no pastel colors...it's much more easier to navigate and find what you want

Pre-emptive post to clear up misconceptions about this update.

- Avatars (the Mii-like things) are OPTIONAL. You can still use your Gamerpics. Microsoft will not have the system put a gun to your head and force you to use them, despite what some folks here seem to believe.
- Blade functionality will only be in the Guide menu. You will be using that Media Center-esque interface, and there's no going back.
