Team Fortress 2 Not Getting Updates on PS3
by Blake Ellison, Sep 23, 2008 4:00pm PDTThe PlayStation 3 version of Team Fortress 2 will not receive the new content going to its PC and Xbox 360 counterparts, according to an interview today.
"They're not doing ongoing development on The Orange Box for the PS3," said Valve co-founder Gabe Newell to 1UP. Valve produced its bundle The Orange Box, containing the team-based shooter, in-house for the PC and Xbox 360, but publisher Electronic Arts had its UK unit handle the PlayStation 3 port.
"We don't have PlayStation developers," added Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi.
The PC version of Team Fortress 2 has received a bevy of content, including maps, game modes, achievements, and weapons--and all of it has been free. That content has yet to be released for the Xbox 360, but it will arrive as paid downloadable content because Microsoft said so.

I bought Orange Box for the PC so this isn't really a big deal to me, but it does make you wonder. Will they ever show disdain for the PC like they do the PS3 today?

This is one of the best FPS shooters and yet a sad example of the console consumer getting shafted. Half the games I play are still laggy, so much so that I put the game back in its box - again. And no, my connection's just fine. COD 4 is as smooth as silk.

I'm sorry, the PS3 can't be that difficult to program for, some developers are just too lazy to learn a new platform that ultimately could yield some great sales and results. I've seen plenty of other PS3 game both first and third party look damn nice on the PS3 and didn't take forever to develop.
I love games on all platforms, but this generation Sony has gotten the shaft with the PS3 so far and it's pretty damn sad considering they've made all those shafting them tons of cash over the last 10+yrs since they joined the bizz.
They've grown the market into what it is today almost single handedly and some of the companies that were once loyal and made great games on PSone and PS2 have stuck it to Sony this round. It'll come back to bite them in ass, you always get paid back for wrong doings.

If you are, I don't think you deserve the excellent content Valve continues to roll out. I'm absolutely shocked that they are even bothering giving 360 owners the content (but not shocked that it cost money)
Valve is not a console developer, so do not expect them to devote time to it.

It goes to show that when looking at releases for multiple platforms, you need to choose the "favored platform" of the developer or publisher. Otherwise, you could risk ending up with bugs or no updates.
