Report: Mass Effect Movie Rights Bought by Marvel Movie Man

15
Film producer Avi Arad has bought the film rights to Bioware's cinematic Xbox 360 RPG Mass Effect, according to a report today.

"Numerous sources have confirmed that producer Avi Arad has optioned the rights," reads the report on The Cut Scene. Arad is also producing the Lost Planet movie with his new production company.

Electronic Arts, publisher of Mass Effect and owner of the intellectual property, declined to comment on the report, but the development would fit with the company's plan to generate revenue by way of Hollywood and TV tie-ins.

Arad, who brought Marvel comic book franchises like X-Men, Spider-Man and Iron Man to the silver screen, has yet to attach a director, screenplay writer, or any stars to the adaptation, if he indeed has purchased the rights.

I think a good number of people know who Avi Arad is instead of calling him "Marvel Movie Man".

It's like referencing Steve Jobs in a story by saying he's a computer salesman.

He's fucking Avi Arad, I guess I thought he would be known to people on an entertainment focused website (this one) He brought Marvel back from bankruptcy and produced BILLIONS of dollars of films. This guy is on the level of Eisner/Bruckheimer/Lucas.

Actually this is more of a video game focused website, rather then general entertainment. Mainly because anything articles that aren't 100% video game focused are in someway atleast related to video games. Also the majority of the people here are gamers, not movie buffs.

And i had no idea who the Marvel Movie Man was either. Until i read your post that it.

        Those are fair examples.

I just figured that a lot of people would have known his name because the majority here have seen at least one of his movies in the last ten years and his name is on all of them.

I'd never heard of the guy. Looking at his IMDb link, I've only seen a few of those films, and I wasn't into any of them enough to actually look into their cast and crew listings to find their producer, of all people.

Errr NM, its another guy with some three-lettered-Middle-Eastern-sounding-name-starting-with-an-A (Ari Emanuel). I was close right?

But it does give the headline a catchy alliteration...
