Morning Chatty: Warhammer Online Launch Edition

Around these parts, the whole industry seems to pretty much stop working when a major game launches, slowing the news cycle to, well, almost nothing. The news lull that followed Grand Theft Auto IV was one of the worst I've ever seen.

I bring this up because Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning officially launches today. Mythic's been working on that PC MMO for quite some time, and I know many have been anticipating it. Whether it leads to a news drought or not, that probably isn't indicative of much--pre-order customers have been able to play for a while now--but it's something that's on my mind today.

Well, that and the Mirror's Edge release date: November 11 for consoles. I've been looking forward to the game since I first saw it at GDC, and it certainly didn't disappoint when I played it at E3, so here's hoping...

Is it better than the original or more of the same?

Hopefully it's more of the Mercenaries-esque open-world stuff instead of the run & gun alien nonsense.

I had to struggle to finish Crysis. More of the same or is there something which makes it better?

Is Crysis Wars a free multiplayer thing a la F.E.A.R. Combat?

I know, I have it, but I wonder if they're going to release it for free.

I haven't heard any plans to but it would be great if they did release it for $19.95

I keep thinking i'm near the end of the game, and it keeps going :-o

            awesome game.

I can host a few TDM/Power Struggle games. Crustar and I have tried it before, and we managed to get a 10 man game going on the net, with decent pings for everybody.

I also will experiment w/ the dedicated server setup to see if i can just straight up transfer the server config files from crysis.

I'm pretty stoked to pick it up this weekend, or maybe just on steam. Original Crysis ran awesome on my then-brand-new machine, so i imagine this is going to run even better.

Can't wait to play it. Crysis was the last game on PC I bought retail, though I wish I got the CE version first time around after enjoying it more than I thought I would. :[

Nothing in the CE though, I wish I *hadn't* bought that version. But I'm a whore for these things.

Is the singleplayer going to be inscrutable in terms of the storyline if I never played the first one?

Just curious, for someone who ran the original all the way through in low-medium settings (majority low) how much improvement would I see? Would I be able to turn up a decent amount of settings with no performance loss?

I'm thinking of getting a new video card soon-ish, so I was trying to decide if I wanted to wait or not.

Anyone else getting a weird hiccup every few minutes? The screen will lock and the sound will loop for a second or two, then everything is fine again. Didn't have this problem with the first Crysis, but I haven't updated to the new nVidia drivers either.
