Mercenaries 2 Demo Coming, Arrives Today for 360

By Blake Ellison, Sep 12, 2008 10:10am PDT Pandemic's open-world military action game Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will get a playable demo for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, according to an announcement from publisher Electronic Arts.

The demo comes to Xbox Live today and will arrive on the PlayStation Network next Thursday, September 18.

In the demo, players can work through one objective from one of the game's missions and explore a small portion of the game's open world. They can also take several vehicles for a spin and even try out airstrikes.

Should you lose patience whilst waiting for the demo and spring for the full game, it's now on shelves for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

  • I have enjoyed the game so far, but truly it is one of the most embarrassingly buggy titles that EA has shoved out the door in a while. It's really to bad they continue to be so short sighted in insisting the title be pushed out during the end of summer lull. The collision detection for weapons, especially the RL is just wicked bad, AI is quirky and not at all good at rooting you out or making you believe you are shooting anything but (sometimes) moving target dummies. As everyone agrees the constant comments from AI and your idiot receptionist back at base are enough to drive you crazy after playing long enough. They actually issued a patch right on the day it came out and I don't know what it fixed but FFS get the real patch out NOW!

Good things are the smooth graffix, the sound effects are passable, the vehicles especially large attack choppers are much fun and easy to control and the explosions are spectacular at times. Large area to explore too with many people to meet and kill.

My biggest gripe? I can't store vehicles at my huge base. Lots of place to store them and a nice helipad but you drive or fly into your base, go inside and when you get back out they have disappeared. Happens at other bases when you go inside and the attack chopper you just paid 250K for just up and disappears or is being flown off by one of the AI retards at the base. I wanna be the Jay Leno of the Military Hardware Collection scene. I can't even store one damn tank.
