Call of Duty 4 DLC Goes Half Price This Weekend

Publisher Activision has announced that the Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4 and its additional multiplayer arenas will sell for 400 Microsoft Points ($5), half of its usual $10 cost, on the Xbox Live Marketplace this weekend.

The half-price sale runs from 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, September 12 to midnight on Monday, September 14. In celebration of the reduced cost, that time will also be part of a Double XP Weekend for online players.

Released earlier this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at $10, the Variety Map Pack brought four extra maps to the Infinity Ward-developed shooter: Creek, Broadcast, Killhouse, and Chinatown (a remake of the classic CoD map Carentan). A free PC release of the map pack followed in June.

seriously PC is the only way to go anymore, console gaming is like the IRS, they will just nickle and dime you to death, thank god Nvidia stepped up and bought the maps for all the PC users! xD

        That's where I'm torn.
Because with the PC versions you get whatever nasty copy protection shit they stick on it, and some of it is quite nasty. But the community support is often better.
On the console it just works, but for FPS's the controls aren't as good, and the DLC costs money.

        Argh. What a conundrum.

Paid DLC is one of the reasons why I sold my 360.
