No TF2 At E3

Word from Stomped @ E3 is that Valve will not be showing the highly anticipated Team Fortress 2 at E3 this year. As reason Sierra gave was that Valve is concentrating on getting the Dreamcast version of Half-Life finished. Whatcha think of that?

  • From a financial perspective, I can see Valve's motives here. HL for the DC will probably sell like hotcakes. At least, it will to DC owners who do NOT have PCs that is... (How many is that I wonder? Methinks not too many...)

TF2, while highly anticipated, will probably not make nearly as much as HL for the DC potentially will. Let's face it, PC games just don't make that much money anymore. They are usually warez'd hours after being released, not as many people own current "gaming" level PCs as own consoles, and console games are much easier to market.

From a gamers perspective, this totally blows. RELEASE TF2 ALREADY, DAMNIT!! Argh, damn delays... at least there are plenty of other options out there right now, but damnit, TF2 sounds freaking cool.

  • Just let me in on a secret here... I have been downloading quite a few UT user created maps and more often than not the frame rate sucks ass. I know that you are supposed to optimise your maps for reduced space on the screen at any one time when the user is walking around but I have noticed maps that do not look particulary demanding in the number of edges and polygons displayed and they still slow down. This is in comparison to similar styled maps designed by the Epic/DE guys. Is there some reason for this? Do users just not think clearly when they design maps or is there a step they miss in the creation process that makes them suck ass for performance.
