S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Hits US Retail Sept. 15; Steam Release Date Not Yet Determined?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) will arrive in North American retailers on September 15, publisher Deep Silver announced today.

The GSC Game World-developed shooter prequel was previously expected to hit September 5, but suffered a delay due to a North American manufacturing problem that reportedly saw the game head to stores without the CD key codes required for play.

Curiously, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the game's once-simultaneous release on Valve's digital distribution network Steam.

Though Valve has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will be downloadable on September 15, Deep Silver today stated digital download release date "has not yet been determined."

Got a 68% on PCGamer UK. So I'll be giving it a miss on release

Not that I'm a review score whore, I just trust them and have a subscription.

Also I have little cash ^_^

Despite the retarded price tag down here, I got myself a copy.

Lovely game, even after the better beaches tax (70AU for Christs sake!) - even if it has the occasional crash. But hey! That’s a stalker game on release!

Swamps are awesome FYI.

I'm extremely angry at the way the Steam has been handled, and I hope that by saying the date "has not yet been determined." they mean that they are talking about unlocking it earlier than the 15th on Steam (the new date set, so this article is misleading).

If they don't they are complete morons.

I'm getting pretty sick of publishers holding back the digital download release until the retailers have the game. How about a new business model? How about you unlock the game on the SHIP date if I preordered. Then you'd get your sale and I'd get my game. In a perfect world I'd say the game should come out on the ship date but I'm sure theres some agreement with the retailers that would prevent this. I'd also say it should cost less as there are no shipping or packaging costs and I assume that bandwidth isn't quite as expensive as these items, but appartenty price fixing is rampant and noone seems to care.

Weird, I thought this was already out. I was at walmart last week and saw it in the isle, picked it up and read the back. I guess someone put it out early, I should have bought it. Well, if anyone lives in the Norman, OK area check your local idiot walmart :D

They say the delay was for north america due to manufacturing but i was at GAME today in Stockholm (europe) and they too said its been delayed until the 15th... honestly this is one horrible release mess.
and i believe the only reason that Deep silver delayed the Steam release is so they could have a chance to make more money back on the retail copy. shame on them.

thanks publisher, way to fuck it all up and make things more confusing for people... not like people had enough trouble with the first stalker due to the patches and savegame stuff that hit early on. I've got it pre-ordered, hopefully it will get here soon since I'm looking forward to it.
