Warhammer Online Open Beta Launches for Pre-orders

29
As promised, developer Mythic Entertainment has launched the open beta for those that pre-order its upcoming fantasy MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC).

After pre-ordering from a participating North American retailer--including Best Buy and GameStop--aspiring participants should receive an open beta code they can register on the game's official account page.

Both level and content restrictions are in place for the beta, as players cannot advance past level 20 or explore an area above Tier 2, and all characters will be wiped in advance of the game's official launch on September 18.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Started yesterday morning with a Chaos Chosen. He's a right terror with a decent 2H weapon. Consistently putting up top damage number in RVR scenario's AND he can tank! Ran him up to level 12, where I seemed to have out leveled most of the other new beta testers, as I sat in the Tier 2 queue for over an hour without a scenario ever launching.

I'm in love with this game. It's everything I've ever wanted in an MMO. Going to shelf the Chosen and play around with some of the other classes before the wipe, but I think my mind is pretty made up on my choice of class. Chosen just seems to fit like a glove.

Chaos is king I have almost allof them rolled.

I am a huge fan of the Magus and the Zealot, they both have to be played tactifuly.

Yeah, I've seen pictures of him at the tail end of the game, pretty impressive. Only real complaint with the class is that it's a bit tough to twist the auras to keep three of them going. Seems like they are on a separate cool down from attack cool downs, but you can't seem to change to a different aura while the global attack cool down is active. This makes it a bit of a PITA to twist auras in combat.

I never bother twisting my auras, they just aren't worth the effort for what little they do now. In the end game I probably will, but it really depends on just how much they scale at rank 40.
