Warhammer Online Open Beta Launches for Pre-orders

I'm not trying to be snarky, but is the game STILL in fullbright mode? No shadows at all?

I still don't see any up to date graphics, texturing or lighting & shadows. Must have played too much Witcher and LotrO, but this game (graphics wise) really is only a bit better than World of Warcraft, but still looks horrible in comparison to current gen MMOs.

i've been playing the beta for a few days now, and i'd say it's decent so far.
i'm only level 2 right now, since starting up is probably one of the most boring things ever.
instead of constant massive PvP, which the game is all about, all you do is the generic PvE fighting zombies, boars, minions, bandits, whatever

i'll hold on until i get to level 10 or something and see how it is then, but so far this game has been pretty bland

- the one RvR scenario i played, however, was fairly engaging, except for the fact that i died basically every 5 minutes. but i am level 2 so it's probably something i'll get past

- the beta has been extremely bugged on my system for now (but what beta isn't?) but i think they've been patching things up pretty well

- new starters of MMORPG's will probably be blown away by the sheer amount of stuff that is just packed on the screen when you start. dozens of players and NPC's running around, a pretty crowded HUD, and a lot of text and lore behind every single thing you see.

I ordered online from Best Buy this morning. How do I get the key? No mention of it on the website at all.

The european service provider, GOA, is killing this game for the largest expected playerbase before it even launches. I can't understand why Mythic is still keeping true to the contract with them.
- Completely broken account system since beta launch.
- US players getting access to closed beta, 2 preview weekends and open beta without a single problem whatsoever.
- EU players getting none of that. GOA hasn't even been able to set up a proper account center by now.
- Those few people that DO get in through mysterious ways are not prioritized in whichever way. Freebie open beta code people who got their code from a fansite get in before collectors edition customers, who already payed for "guaranteed beta access".

This will deliver a heavy blow to GOAs reputation, as well as Mythics.
I am playing MMOs for almost 8 years, and I haven't come across a more catastrophic launch than WARs EU OB launch.

I wanted to like this game, but persistent login issues and game bugs so close to release have nudged me towards waiting a few months to see how the game pans out before dropping $50 on a game box and toss away $15 of my money every month.

The most disappointing part was the graphics. It looks like they tried to split the line between LOTRO and WoW and ended up with something very mediocre.

I'll check back on the game in 6 months to see how it's going.

I just popped into the beta. The graphics seem a tad blurry. Have they limited the resolution for beta or something? I maxed the settings and I can't tell the difference.

I just got out playing for a while and I truly like it. I don't think the graphics are that bad at all.. The quests were good and I like the overall direction of the game so far. I am looking to get back to it soon again. Nice job!

have they annouced the pricing yet? Any lifetime member prices?

Started yesterday morning with a Chaos Chosen. He's a right terror with a decent 2H weapon. Consistently putting up top damage number in RVR scenario's AND he can tank! Ran him up to level 12, where I seemed to have out leveled most of the other new beta testers, as I sat in the Tier 2 queue for over an hour without a scenario ever launching.

I'm in love with this game. It's everything I've ever wanted in an MMO. Going to shelf the Chosen and play around with some of the other classes before the wipe, but I think my mind is pretty made up on my choice of class. Chosen just seems to fit like a glove.

This MMO is king period.

The Achievements and organic feel of the game and how all your actions reward and shape you character as well as your faction as a whole.

No other MMO has these features that I know of.

It almost reminds me of what Fable was suppose to be but it really is.

You have to try it at the least.

Any chance of Fileshack hosting the beta client? I'd love to be able to download it through Quicksilver at 800-900 KB/s instead of the 40 KB/s I was getting through fileplanet (and the retardedly random speeds 15 - 200 KB/s through the torrent)
