Nintendo Responds to New DS Rumors
by Nick Breckon, Aug 27, 2008 12:08pm PDTNintendo today denied reports that it is working on a new version of its Nintendo DS handheld.
The rumors, reported by several sites, indicated that a new Nintendo DS will be announced in early 2009. The purported update is said to boast larger screens, as well as a second touchscreen.
Nintendo labeled the talk "rumor and speculation." The company has not revised the Nintendo DS since the debut of the DS Lite in early 2006.

- A 'DS channel'
- 'DS ware'
- Expand the very limited picochat - bring it online instead of the limited range of the wifi. Imagine an IRC channel with the power of picochat, straight from the DS firmware. I think that would be pretty sweet.
- Wifi options within the main bootup screen. Why must I go into mario kart just to configure the wifi settings?
- A daily planner within the already built in calendar.
- A better alarm clock.
The DS could be a very powerful handheld device, but with the current firmware its very limted.
