EA Brings MotionPlus Tennis To The Wii
by Maarten Goldstein, Aug 20, 2008 5:37am PDTEA Canada is working on a new tennis game franchise, Electronic Arts has announced.The as-of-yet untitled game will first see release on the Wii some time during 2009, with other console platforms following later. The game will be the first EA Sports title to use Nintendo's new MotionPlus accessory for increased controller accuracy.
The game will feature top players from past and present, as well as "innovative ways to play", "letting you control the ball and work the court like you never have before in a tennis videogame."
Said EA Sports president Peter Moore, "Our new tennis franchise, coming first to the Wii, will put fans right into the action and provide the excitement, tension and drama that true champions feel in legendary matches -- like the classic from Wimbledon just last month."
EA also noted it secured an exclusive deal to feature the
All England Lawn Tennis Club, where Wimbledon is played, but the company did not specify if it has the Wimbledon license as well.No other details were revealed.
