New Resident Evil 5 Trailer Emerges

From publisher Capcom comes the latest trailer from Resident Evil 5 (PS3, 360), showing off a full two minutes of in-game footage.

The latest iteration in the long-running survival horror series will be the first to feature cooperative play, and borrows heavily from gameplay concepts as featured in the previous effort Resident Evil 4 (GCN, PC, PS2, Wii).

Resident Evil 5 is due out on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 13 of next year. For more on the title, check out our hands-on preview.

I really hope this one finally purges the "puzzle" elements in favor of being a straight up fight to survive in an incredibly hostile environment. IMO, that was the one thing that kept RE4 from being as good as it could have been, still having to run around finding goofy items to put together to open doors.

Blah. I did not like RE4 on the Cube or PS2 and UbiSoft can die for their PC bastardization, but I did love the Wii version. Seeing this game being gimped for a thumb-stick pains me.

Every time I see this game the graphics impress me. This game and Call of Duty 4 just seem to have something special about their graphics engines. The character models and the skin in those two games looked better/more lifelike than Crysis. There was something...I don't know...clean...about Crysis. Everything looked very clean, and sterile. I know Cryengine 2 has the more advanced lighting model but RE5 is looking fantastic.

I can't wait to see all the different environments they take you to. I love how the RE games always have 3-4 distinctly different settings throughout the game. So far all I know is the main dusty town in day/night, and that cargo ship on top and underneath. Anybody know the others? I like spoilers =(

Man, since i don't have an Xbox360 or PS3 i may be missing out on this one.Since i highly doubt RE5 will be coming to the PC with all the piracy going on with the PC version of DMC4.Sad to say but i don't think PC owners will be getting RE5 for the PC.

Just read your preview: "Gone are the briefcase item management screens, replaced with a nine-slot inventory system in which knives, rocket launchers, everything occupies just a single slot a piece. Arranged in a 3-by-3 grid, those items are mapped to the directional pad on the controller, allowing for quick swaps between pistols, frag grenades, machine guns, whatever."

THANK GOODNESS! That was my biggest gripe with RE4. Such a pain in the ass having to pause, choose grenade, unpause, throw grenade, pause, pick weapon, unpause, fire weapon, repeat x1000

Does anyone else find the death animations of the people strange? I mean they fly like on ps2, as if they were not physics based. And the zombies look more like normal enemies to me, than they look like zombies.
