Publisher Sega of America has announced that Amusement Vision's free-roaming crime title Yakuza 2 (PS2) will arrive at North American retailers on September 9. Screenshots of the game were also provided.

Building on elements established by its 2006 predecessor, Yakuza 2 includes more urban areas to explore and a variety of improvements and upgrades. The game's North American localization comes almost a full two years after its Japanese release, which landed in December of 2006.

Yakuza 3 is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, with a Edo-period PS3 side story having already hit Japan.

I can't wait to play this. I loved the first one, and this one will be fixing my only qualms I had with the original. That being, they're keeping the original Japanese voice acting and subtitling it this time.

Despite the big names (Michael Madsen, Mark Hamill), the English voice acting pretty much sucked on Yakuza.
