New Team Fortress 2 Map Revealed: Badwater Basin
by Aaron Linde, Aug 14, 2008 12:48pm PDTValve Software today revealed the latest piece of Team Fortress 2 content bound for next week's Heavy class update as Badwater Basin, a new arena for the game's Payload gametype. Screenshots were also provided.
According to the update webpage, Badwater Basin focuses on more open spaces and features less chokepoints than previous Payload map Gold Rush, which came as part of the Medic update earlier this year.
Badwater Basin will arrive as part of the largest Team Fortress 2 PC update yet, set to debut next Tuesday with a new gametype, seven maps, and three weapons for the Heavy class. The first new Heavy weapon, the Killing Gloves of Boxing or K.G.B., was unveiled yesterday alongside a set of 35 class-specific achievements.

Amen!
Dustbowl is NOT Dustbowl without flag based CP! This would be a gigantic change for TF2 and render the horrible linear CP maps DOA. Imagine actually being able to utilize the entire map for battles in TF2, instead of the same exact boring and predictable static control points.
Valve is good, but no way are they sitting on five new maps. these are obvious tweakings of existing TF2 maps for the new gameplay mode.

Love how valve acts like the scout is supposed to be the king of mobility and getting through enemy lines when demos and soldiers are far more maneuverable and both of them + pyros are much more able to get past sentries.
I mean hell, look at the meet the scout video. Shows the scout run right past a sentry. Try that in game and you'll get obliterated the second you get into it's line of fire.

Notice the name of the achievement...uncover spies? The picture is some kind of flashlight...is there any way to "uncover spies" in TF2 now...besides shooting them? Heavy is listed as a defensive class, but we usually see it on offense, maybe this and the rumored "Swamper" are a move towards making it a more defensive class.
