Capcom Considering More Wii Ports; Candidates Include Street Fighter 4, Flock, More

Publisher Capcom is considering one or more of its in-development properties for release on the Nintendo Wii, corporate officer Christian Svensson revealed on the company's official forums.

Responding to complaints that few of Capcom's efforts on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are also en route to the Wii, Svennson said that "one or two" titles in development at the company's North American-based studio Capcom Entertainment Incorporated are being considered for release on the Wii.

"We'd like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs," Svennson noted.

While the upcoming fighter sequel Street Fighter IV is internally developed at CEI, the remaining titles—Proper Games' Flock, Certain Affinity's Age of Booty and Airtight Studios' Dark Void—are part of the studio's publishing operations. Lost Planet and the Devil May Cry franchise, meanwhile, are developed by Capcom Japan.

As pointed out by Siliconera, the downloadable efforts Flock and Age of Booty seem the most likely possibilities, as they're best suited for adaptation to the Wii's unique control schemes and graphical capabilities.

Capcom is currently at work on a Wii edition of the Xbox 360 zombie-slaying action title Dead Rising, entitled Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. The upcoming downloadable revival Mega Man 9 is also planned for a Wii release alongside the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

It would be great to get some more good games on the Wii... most my time spent on that box is drunken Wii bowling competitions. My only fear is the low quality of the graphics, ex: Dead Rising, will it still look decent? I hope so! Will the gun play be an important and fun part of the game or just a gimmick? We can only hope for the best.
