Rock Band 2 Bundle on Xbox 360 Getting Delayed October Release?

12
While the Rock Band 2 game and individual instruments are set for an exclusive Xbox 360 release on September 14, it now appears that Harmonix's Special Edition bundle will not make it to stores until October 19, a full month later.

The official Rock Band store and retailer GameStop both list the bundle as shipping on October 19--the same day the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Wii versions are set to arrive. The Special Edition bundle--which includes the microphone, drums, guitar and game disc--costs only $199.99, while the separate instruments and game add up to an MSRP of $249.96.

Many fans who were planning on enjoying the early release while saving money with the bundle are upset about the apparent delay.

"I think it was a mistake to do it this way," said Rock Band community member Pandemonium. "People who were on the fence about whether they should buy the bundle and upgrade their controllers or just buy the game are now less likely to buy the bundle.. I think they are going to lose money."

The first Rock Band instruments originally shipped only in bundle form, with the separate peripherals arriving in stores months after the initial release.

Shacknews has contacted developer Harmonix, publisher MTV, and distributor Electronic Arts for comment, but has not yet received a reply.

Thanks to pancake humper for the heads up.

How many of you that already have Rock Band 1 plan on buying RB2 bundle?

I was planning on just buying the game

I figure I'll just get the game too. Don't see much point in going for the bundle this time out.

I'm planning to get new instruments, but that's the Ion drumkit I already pre-ordered and a GH:WT guitar when that comes out. I've come to like my RB guitar more over the past few months, but I'm still partial to the clicky-strum bar and spaced-out fret buttons.

I was going to get the bundle. My RB1 (launch!) drums feel like they're slowly going to die away, and the new stuff just looked nicer.

I was planning on getting the bundle to get the new guitar and drums, but hey, maybe not.

I was considering buying the bundle. I want the new drum set for sure. I don't know whether I want the new guitar yet, though -- I'd like to have a chance to try it out before I decide. Maybe they'll be demoing it at PAX later this month.

In light of this news, I'll probably just buy the game and the drums, and keep on using my GH3 Les Paul for the time being.

I was going to and riffle all the old hardware.

Whats $50 if you have a full time job who gives a shit. Rockband is the most played game I have ever had so to me $50 to play the new version a month earlier is worth it.

I was just going to buy the game, but I wanted to get one of the Rock Band 2 guitars. I need one simply because my Rock Band one died almost immediately after I bought the Rock Band Bundle, and because it has calibration built into it. If there's anything I'll really need it will be that bigger hard drive for my 360. The only reason why I haven't bought that yet is because of the gougy price it has. ($180 for 120 gigs, wtf?)

Just the game, and probably one of the new guitars, because I can't seem to get the sync set right with the current one.

I am, I'm going to donate my old set likely to a charity organization like Boys & Girls Club.

I'm buying the Ion drums so I'll be sticking with just the disc.

I don't know. I want the new drums and guitar, and the game, obviously, and my current guitar and drums work fine, so I can afford to wait for the individual instruments to get sold. Early Adopter Tax to pay an extra $40, for all that, though.

Oh well. $40. Stackin' paper, motherfuckers. 8)

Just the game. I don't play RB1 enough to justify the need for new instruments.

I'll get just the game, but I plan on getting the new drumset once it's sold separately since my yellow pad is busted.
