Urban Race Stumbles Toward Finish Line

Developed by the recently-closed 10tacle Studios Belgium, Urban Race (360, PC) is a spin-off title based on the company's long-in-development parkour title Totems.

Apparently started when the developer sensed financial troubles, it now seems that the project is lacking a publisher, and may be in danger of never seeing the light of day. Nevertheless, here is a trailer released today, showcasing the multiplayer game that would pit up to four rooftop racers against eachother in competitive urban sprints.

The concept is fun but its animation and sense of physics look awfully iffy for a game based around movement. Still, it looks interesting and I curious to try it.

"Apparently started when the developer sensed financial troubles..." ah... what? Don't they have another game in development? Usually when you're in financial trouble you'd want to release the game you already started before dumping tons of money into another unfinished game, right?

This game looks like it could be fun. It seems a little bit like a competitive Mirror's Edge, albeit a bit more shallow. I might bite for a budget price.

Actually looks really interesting to me--reminds me of Crackdown, minus the exaggerated jump distance of course. Hell, all I do in Crackdown now is jump around looking for orbs just for the sheer fun of jumping across the city. I'd probably pick this up.
