Blast from the Past: Halo 1 PC Patched

A new patch for the PC version of Halo 1 is now available, removing the CD check five years after the game was first released. A patch for Halo: Custom Edition is available as well.

In addition to removing the CD check from the game, the 1.08 patch takes care of server-crashing security bugs. As of tomorrow, this patch is required to continue to play online.

- PC had no co-op, but did have online, more modes, more weapons (Fuel Rod Gun and Flamethrower, I believe)... : AlexW1203

Any complaints about the PC port are void now, really. My PC at the time couldn't keep up, and the game was difficult and painful to play. I came back to it a few years later with much better hardware, and it was easier and more enjoyable.

I remember playing halo 1 MP on pc, my experience was horrible, was the laggiest choppiest thing I ever saw.. and my connection was fine.. I dunno, I thought it sucked..

well, it took blizzard 10 years to remove StarCraft's CD check haha. at least the halo fanboys don't have to copy mpq files manually onto their HDDs
