Guitar Hero 3 Getting New-ish Track Pack Thursday; Includes Marilyn Manson, Flyleaf and AFI

14
A sort-of new downloadable track pack will be available on Thursday August 7 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, publisher Activision has announced.

Dubbed the Interscope Track Pack, the songs are the same as those that were available to Xbox 360 owners last year with a purchase of the Guitar Hero III soundtrack:

  • Flyleaf - "Tina"
  • AFI - "Carcinogen Crush"
  • Marilyn Manson - "Putting Holes in Happiness (Nick Zinner Remix)"
No price point was listed in today's announcement, though past Guitar Hero III track packs have sold in the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace for $6.25, or 500 Microsoft Points.

Let's squeeze more money out of our customers and charge them for songs and instead of getting them for cheap on Itunes, we can get an extra dollar or so to put some clicky buttons in it. Weee... $$$ smokes 100 dollar bills.

What does iTunes have to do with anything? People buy songs for Guitar Hero to play them, not listen to them. These are expansion packs, add-on levels, episodic releases - not music singles.

You realize that the game does not just have an MP3 playing. They either use the master tracks or re-record the entire song in the studio. They have to separate the guitar parts from the reset of the music so that when you mess up or miss notes then the guitar part does not play but the rest of the music still does.

      ..unless you were being sarcastic.
