Wheelman Delayed Until Next Year

5
Midway has delayed the release of its open-world Vin Diesel-starring driving-action game Wheelman (PC, PS3, 360) until the first quarter of 2009, reports Kotaku.

The oft-postponed game, once due in 2007 and then expected sometime this year, was apparently pushed to provide Midway Studios Newcastle more development time, and hopefully, result in a better product.

Why bother announcing the delays anymore? Name one game that's been released in the last five years that didn't see a delay. Delays are as much a part of the development cycle now as the programmers are.

For better or worse, most games shipped by the big three (Activision, EA, Ubi) come out on time. Or, they don't announce a date until they have one.

I say we stop announcing games when the concept is written on a napkin (DNF/Too Human) and then putting a release date on it when the first screenshot is public, I'm sick of these delays.

Investors and potential investors will care what is in the pipeline and how well projects are being managed and if they can find out then the gaming press can find out, and the information will be reported either way.

well you dont see great companies like 3D realms announcing delays in their big projects ie: Duke nukem. and if it is actually being made im sure the delays helped somehow.
