Konami Breaks Metal Gear Online, Issues Apology and Detailed Explanation
by Aaron Linde, Jul 21, 2008 5:00pm PDTPublisher Konami has released a detailed report of Metal Gear Online (PS3) system issues experienced in the wake of a recently released expansion pack.
Following last week's release of the Gene Expansion premium pack for the online multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Konami's servers were mired by a sudden spike in traffic load prompting a variety of issues.
A full report of the outages published by Konami reveals that the trouble affected the game's web-based online store and site in addition to the game itself. The game's newly-added Reward Shop, which allows players to purchase new gear with accumulated reward points, was subsequently closed.
The company added that as of July 19, "there are still no permanent solutions as yet," nor is it certain when the Reward Shop will be reopened for MGO players. More details will be added to the game's official site when they become available.
