Wipeout HD Delayed by 'Tricky Technical Problem,' Hopefully Due By Year's End

Previously slated to arrive this summer, Wipeout HD, Studio Liverpool's downloadable PlayStation 3 update of the classic hovercraft racing series, has been delayed.

"There is a specific technical problem with Wipeout that we have to solve," Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO David Reeves revealed to Eurogamer. "I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment."

Reeves further noted that "it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with," but that he thinks the game "will come out before the end of the year."

I expected it though. This day in age, a game isn't a game unless it breaks dates and hearts.

They've been really shifty and nebulous about the release date for awhile now, but I still find this to be very :((((((((((((

I've logged like 300+ hours on the PSP wipeouts, the PS3 ones are like my most anticipated games

I was (this close) to buying a PSP just for Wipeout. I still dream about it some days. :-\
