No Halo Wars In 2008

Microsoft just confirmed with Shacknews that Ensemble Studios' Halo-based strategy game Halo Wars is delayed until the first half of 2009. Though no release date was ever officially announced, the game had been expected to arrive later this year.According to a rep from Ensemble, the game was delayed for additional control and balancing polish, and to avoid the crowded holiday season.

Check back with us later for impressions of the game.

I will be too busy with Dawn of War 2 and Starcraft 2 to care.

Starcraft 2 doesn't come out till next year. Probably January or February...

I think Starcraft 2 will hit late 2009. But, let us assume that Starcraft 2 hits in Feb 2009.

DoW2 is expected to hit around March 2009 and, unlike the Blizzard game, this a fairly firm date.

According to this article Halo Wars will arrive around May 2009.

Give those two alternatives, why the fuck would I waste my time with Halo Wars?

If SC2 and DoW2 were not PC exclusives, competition wise, Halo Wars would be walking into the jaws of death.

LATE 2009? Seems unlikely, unless they go through a near full rework yet again. I know Blizzard likes leaving their games in the oven longer than most, but that would put it in development for over 6 years.

But maybe that's how long it takes to make all those epic CGI Intros/cutscenes Blizzard is so renowned for.

If the general feeling is that their game is 3-4 months away I add 6 months (at least) to that.

I do NOT trust Blizzard and Valve when it comes to estimated release dates.
